Covid-19 - Flowflex SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid Test (Self-Testing) (1 x 5)
Covid-19 - Flowflex SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid Test (Self-Testing) (1 x 5)
The SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid Test is a self-testing lateral flow for the qualitative detection of the nucleocapsid antigens from SARS-CoV02 in anterior nasal swab specimens, directly from individuals suspected of COVID-19 within the first seven days of the onset of symptoms. The test can also test specimens from individuals without symptoms.
This test involves taking a nasal swab sample, which is then placed into an extraction buffer solution tube and as the name suggests, this buffer extracts the sample from the swab into the solution. The solution which now contains the sample is dropped onto the sample collection area of a test cassette specific for SARS-CoV-2 antigens and the result are almost instantaneous, in approximately 15 minutes!
Please note the SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid Test cannot be used for international travel or as a Fit-to-Fly results certificate, which is provided with the COVID-19 PCR Test.

How accurate is this test?
Benefits of the SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid Testing:
When specimens are processed and added to the test cassette, SARS-CoV-2 antigens, if present in the specimen, will react with the anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody-coated particles, which have been pre-coated on the test strip. The mixture then migrates upward on the membrane by capillary action. The antigen-conjugate complexes migrate across the test strip to the reaction area and are captured by a line of antibody bound on the membrane. Test results are interpreted visually in 10-15 minutes based on the presence or absence of visually coloured lines.
To serve as a procedure control, a coloured line will always appear in the control line region indicating that proper volume of specimen has been added, correct procedural technique and membrane wicking has occurred.
This test is approved for self-testing.
When should this test be performed?
For optimum results, this test should be performed within seven days of the onset of symptoms.
What does a positive test result mean?
The SARS-CoV-2 Antigen is generally detectable in upper respiratory samples during the acute phase of infection. Positive results indicate the presence of viral antigens, we advise seeking medical advice and confirming the result with a COVID-19 PCR test in line with government recommendations.
* The performance of SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid Test was established with 605 nasal swabs collected from individual symptomatic patients (within 14 days of onset) who were presenting COVID-19 like symptoms.
